Hyderabad: Taj Banjara standing tall on the banks of Banjara Lake will soon be taken over by another giant hotelier.
The property, which was taken on lease by Taj GVK Hotels and Resorts Ltd and managed first as Taj Gateway and later as Taj Banjara, will now be taken over by another hotel industry giant.
The hotel that once held some of the biggest Page 3 parties, film shooting, and even major conferences has been closed for almost 14 months now.
When NewsMeter reached out to one of the staffers of Taj Banjara, he said that the lease agreement between the owners and Taj Group which continued for almost four decades ended 14 months ago. Since then, the hotel remained closed and all the activities remained suspended, he added.
Asked about the possibility of a real estate giant planning to acquire the land to construct lavish apartments after demolishing the existing structure, the staffer said that he was unaware of it and maintained that in the coming months, the owner and the giant hotelier are likely going to enter a lease agreement to restart the hotel operations.
NewsMeter also attempted to speak to the GVK group but it did not bear fruit. None of the top brass responded to repeated calls.
