Hyderabad to get 3000 electric buses in one year: CM Revanth Reddy
Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy announced that Hyderabad will soon get 3,000 new electric buses as part of the governmentās efforts to reduce pollution in the city.
Focus on pollution-free Hyderabad
Speaking after inaugurating the PJR multi-level flyover at Gachibowli here, the chief minister said that diesel buses have already been shifted to districts to reduce pollution in Hyderabad.
āWe are committed to making the city pollution-free. Plans are being prepared for Hyderabadās development to cater to needs for the next 100 years by constructing roads, underpasses and flyovers,ā he said.
Appeal to Centre for project approvals
The chief minister also said that the State government would request Union Home Minister Amit Shah to approve pending projects like Metro Rail Phase 2, Musi Rejuvenation and the Regional Ring Road (RRR) during his upcoming visit to Hyderabad.
CM Revanth questioned the Centre for not approving these proposals despite granting permissions for similar projects like Sabarmati, Yamuna and Ganga cleaning.
He criticised Union Minister G Kishan Reddy for not responding to repeated pleas for these approvals. āI even visited his residence and requested, but it was of no use,ā he said.
Metro Rail and past governments
Recalling past initiatives, the chief minister said that the Metro Rail project was approved by former PM Manmohan Singh and former Union Urban Development Minister S Jaipal Reddy, while Hyderabadās IT sector was developed under PM PV Narasimha Raoās regime.
He lamented that Telangana had slipped to 9th place in Metro Rail development and accused the Centre of discriminating against the State. āWhy is Kishan Reddy silent on these issues? People should closely watch who is developing the state and who is obstructing its progress,ā he said.
Encouraging electric vehicles
The CM also appealed for lifting the ban on purchase of autos and promised full tax exemption to electric and CNG autos, underlining the governmentās commitment to clean energy and sustainable urban transport.
