Hyderabad to see water disruption for 36 hours from Saturday

Hyderabad: Residents in several parts of the city will face a temporary disruption in drinking water supply for 36 hours, beginning 6 am on Saturday, January 10, and continuing until 6 pm on Sunday.
The temporary water disruption is due to essential repair and maintenance works on the Krishna Drinking Water Supply Scheme (Phase-II).
Major repair works underway
According to officials, the shutdown is necessary to carry out critical repairs on the pumping main between Kodandapur and Godakandla, which supplies water to Hyderabad. The works include:
- Arresting leakage in a 200 mm diameter MS pipe.
- Replacement of damaged 2375 mm diameter MS air valves and valves.
- Junction works near Nasarlapally.
- Replacement of damaged butterfly valves and Non-Return Valves (NRVs) at multiple locations.
Areas to face water supply disruption
The following divisions and localities will be affected during the 36-hour maintenance period:
O&M Division–XI: Vanasthalipuram, Autonagar.
O&M Division–XIX: Areas under Autonagar Reservoir.
O&M Division–X: Vaishalinagar, Nagole.
O&M Division–XX: Badangpet, Lenin Nagar, Adibatla, areas under Kammaguda Reservoir.
O&M Division–VIII: Areas under Balapur Reservoir, Barkas, and Maisaram.
O&M Division–XIV: Yellugutta Reservoir, Nacharam.
O&M Division–VII: Tarnaka, Boudhanagar, Nallagutta, Lalapet, Maredpally, Prakashnagar, Patigadda, Mekalamandi, and Mahendra Hills Reservoir.
O&M Division–V: Areas under Mekalamandi Reservoir.
TD–III: MES, Railways, and Secunderabad Cantonment Board areas.
O&M Division–IX: Hashmathpet, Gautamnagar, Ferozguda.
O&M Division–XVI: Madhuban Reservoir, Shastripuram, and Prashasan Nagar (partially).
O&M Division–I: National Police Academy area
Advisory to residents
Authorities have advised residents in the affected areas to store sufficient water in advance and use it judiciously during the disruption period.
Normal water supply is expected to resume after completion of the repair works on Sunday evening.
