Hyderabad: In a heroic act of bravery, constable T. Sateesh saved the life of a 37-year-old man who was allegedly attempting suicide by jumping from the LB Nagar flyover on Friday evening.

According to a video which is going viral on social media, the man was standing on the edge of the flyover, threatening to jump. Constable T. Sateesh, who was on duty nearby, immediately rushed to the spot and tried to talk the man out of jumping. Despite the man’s initial resistance, the constable managed to pull him back to safety.

Speaking about the incident, T. Sateesh, a traffic police constable, said, “I was on duty at Vijayawada bus stop from 2 p.m. when at approximately 5 p.m. commuters passing by the flyover alerted me about a distressed man sitting on the edge.”

Concerned for the man’s safety, Sateesh immediately ran towards him. A passer-by, who was driving a car on the flyover, took a U-turn and helped Sateesh reach the spot on time.

Further elaborating on the incident, Sateesh said, “His name was not clear on the id card, while his age was 37 years. He didn’t reveal the details. All he revealed was that his sister is in Jharkhand. From there, I handed him over to the LB Nagar police for further investigation and necessary assistance.”

G. Jagannadh, a traffic inspector, Rachakonda police commissionerate, shed some light on the man’s background. “The man is believed to be a migrant labourer working on a construction site near Sagar Ring Road. Since we are in the traffic department, we handed him over to the LB Nagar law and order police station. The details of his personal life and the reason behind his attempted suicide are yet to be known.”
