Hyderabad: The Saifabad Traffic Police conducted a special enforcement drive against motorists using mobile phones while driving at Telangana Thalli Junction, booking 62 violators in a single day as part of efforts to improve road safety.

Special enforcement drive

Saifabad Traffic Inspector R Madhusudan, along with his team, led the drive at the busy junction, focusing on motorists engaging in mobile phone use while driving.

62 cases registered

Police identified 62 individuals violating traffic rules by talking on mobile phones while driving. Officials said such behaviour is a major cause of road accidents and poses a serious threat to public safety.

Awareness and counselling

Senior officers, including DCP Avinash Kumar, Additional DCP Ramulu, and ACP Mohan Kumar, counselled the offenders on the risks of distracted driving.

They stressed that no phone call is more important than human life and advised motorists to stop their vehicles safely before using mobile phones.

Continued vigilance

Traffic police warned that strict action would be taken against violators and urged citizens to adhere to road safety norms. They added that similar enforcement drives will continue regularly to ensure safer roads in the city.

The operation was carried out under the directions of Hyderabad City Traffic Joint Commissioner of Police D. Joel Davis, IPS, and Traffic-I DCP Avinash Kumar, IPS. It was supervised by Khairatabad Zone Traffic ACP S. Mohan Kumar.

Saifabad Traffic Police Inspector N Saidireddy stated that such initiatives are aimed at reducing accidents and promoting responsible driving habits.
