Hyderabad wakes up to a cold, wet morning

Hyderabad: After a cold winter night, the people of Hyderabad woke up to a drizzling morning on Sunday. According to weather experts, cyclone Mandous in the Bay of Bengal caused the unseasonal rains in the city.

According to Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Hyderabad, Medak recorded the state's lowest minimum temperature of 17°Celsius. Alampur and Waddenapally in Jogulamba Gadwal, and Wadenapally in Suryapet received a major share of rainfall of 2 cm in the state.

On Sunday morning, T Balaji, popularly known as Telangana Weatherman, tweeted, "Widespread showers recorded in Hyderabad City during midnight and early morning hours. Moderate showers recorded in South Telangana." He further added that overcast and cool weather is expected in the city on Sunday with light to moderate showers.

Two days ago, Balaji had tweeted that Cyclone Mandous will bring rains in the city from 10-14 December. "During Dec 10-14, there will definitely be unseasonal rains due to cyclone Mandous. South Telangana will get moderate to heavy rains, remaining districts including Hyderabad will get light to moderate rains," he had said.

IMD Hyderabad, in its seven-day weather forecast, said light to moderate rains are likely to occur at a few places over Telangana on 11 December. On 12 December, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are very likely to occur at isolated places in a few districts of Telangana, it said.
