Chief City Planner Rajendra Prasad Naik, along with Senior Engineers and officials from the Engineering and Town Planning departments, participated in a review meeting on Friday to discuss plans.
GHMC Commissioner Ronald Rose, in a recent directive, emphasized collaboration with traffic, engineering, and town planning officials to address the challenges.
Commissioner Ronald Rose stated, "To enhance traffic flow and alleviate congestion, it is crucial to address key junctions in various parts of the city. Our focus is on practical solutions that facilitate the movement of vehicles and pedestrians."
A significant aspect of this initiative involves the construction of Foot-over Bridges (FOBs) at strategic locations. Rose informed that 11 out of the proposed 22 FOBs have already been completed, underlining the progress made in enhancing pedestrian infrastructure. He urged officials to identify additional locations for FOB construction and instructed them to expedite escalator repair works at locations where they are non-functional.
In preparation for the upcoming summer season, Commissioner Rose stressed the importance of completing road repairs, specifically targeting potholes and water stagnation points.
āEfficient road maintenance is paramount for the well-being of our roads and the safety of commuters. We aim to address these concerns proactively," he asserted.
Engineering officials were directed to formulate proposals for upcoming works in the next financial year, ensuring a systematic approach to infrastructure development.
Furthermore, Commissioner Rose highlighted the ongoing land acquisition process for junction improvement works, emphasizing the GHMC's commitment to comprehensive urban planning.
