Hyderabad: On March 24, a 35-year-old woman filed a complaint with the Meerpet Police claiming that she was gang-raped by four auto drivers. She said that she boarded an auto-rickshaw from Jubilee Hills to Koti on 24 March at around 5 pm. After finishing her work, she was waiting for an auto at Koti auto stand to return to Jubilee Hills.
She said an auto driver came and offered her to drop as he was also taking the same route. She boarded the auto only to find later that he was taking her through unknown roads. She said he called up three of his friends who also boarded the auto.
From their conversations, the woman learnt that the auto driver's name was Akhil. His friends were identified as Nithin, Prashanth, and Srinu, who were also auto drivers.
She said when she objected, they took her to the bushes at the backside of Royal Bar at Gayathri Nagar in Jillelaguda. The four of them forcefully raped her and fled from the spot.
The woman then headed to Meerpet Police Station and filed a complaint. A case was registered against the four accused under section 376D, 363, 34 of the Indian Penal Code.
However, Mahendar Reddy, SHO of Meerpet Police Station said that the woman was addicted to alcohol and she had a conversation with the accused persons regarding having sex for money. "When the assured money was not paid by the four men, the woman registered a complaint with the police alleging forceful sex," he said.
