Hyderabad: HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath said that Muskin Cheruvu development in Narsingi Mandal has all the ingredients to become a model for future CSR-driven lake revival plans.
He noted that the project, being implemented by Tattva Developers, should serve as a benchmark for CSR-funded lake rejuvenation across Hyderabad.
CSR funds driving Eco-Restoration
Tattva Developers has undertaken the development of Muskin Cheruvu using CSR funds aimed at reviving urban water bodies and improving their ecological health.
Commissioner Ranganath lauded the company’s initiative and said the project should reflect sustainable design, environmental responsibility, and community benefit.
Land survey and encroachment removal
During a review meeting, representatives from Tattva Developers explained that the project had been delayed due to a lack of boundary demarcation in the past. Responding to this, Ranganath assured that a comprehensive survey of nearly 60 acres of adjoining government land was now being completed.
He also stated that the administration would take firm action to remove illegal encroachments obstructing lake restoration.
Community and Departmental Coordination
The Commissioner convened a meeting with local residents, temple committee members, farmers, irrigation department officials, and representatives of Tattva Developers to review ongoing works. He emphasized that community involvement was essential for ensuring long-term protection and upkeep of the lake once restoration is complete.
Relief for Farmers in FTL Zone
Ranganath also assured that farmers whose lands fall within the Full Tank Level (FTL) boundary of the lake would be compensated through Transferable Development Rights (TDR). This, he said, would strike a balance between lake protection and the interests of local landowners.
Focus on Drainage and Beautification
Highlighting the need for functional design, the Commissioner instructed that the lake’s inflow and outflow systems be developed scientifically to ensure proper rainwater harvesting and drainage. He also directed that a sturdy bund be constructed around the lake and greenery be developed through plantation, creating an aesthetic and eco-friendly environment.
“Muskin Cheruvu should stand as a model for how CSR initiatives can blend corporate responsibility with environmental protection,” Ranganath said, and added that HYDRAA would extend full support to ensure the project’s timely completion and long-term sustainability.
