Hyderabad: A Handloom and Handicrafts Exhibition is set to grace Rashtrapati Nilayam, Bolarum, Secunderabad, from March 6 to 10.

Minister of Handlooms and Textiles Tummala Nageswara Rao unveiled the exhibition poster on March 4, marking the beginning of the cultural extravaganza.

Opening Doors to Culture: Rashtrapati Nilayam's Cultural Initiative

Rashtrapati Nilayam, the official winter retreat of the President of India, stands as a testament to heritage and culture. Under the guidance of President Draupadi Murmu, the venue opened its doors to the public in 2023, becoming a year-round center for cultural activities.

“In alignment with its commitment to cultural promotion, Rashtrapati Nilayam is hosting the Handloom and Handicrafts Exhibition” read the official statement.

Showcasing Craftsmanship: A Glimpse into Tradition

The exhibition aims to showcase the rich tradition of handloom and handicrafts. The exhibition's subtext will highlight the skills of artisans from across the state.

“Visitors will have the opportunity to explore a diverse range of handcrafted textiles, pottery, jewelry, and other traditional artifacts, meticulously crafted by skilled artisans” the statement read.

Inauguration and Milestone: Governor to Inaugurate Exhibition

The Governor of Telangana will inaugurate the Handloom and Handicrafts Exhibition. A new Visitor Facilitation Centre will also be inaugurated at Rashtrapati Nilayam.

This virtual ceremony, chaired by the President of India, signifies another milestone in Rashtrapati Nilayam's journey to becoming a vibrant hub for cultural activities and engagements.

Special Events Celebrating Womanhood: International Women's Day

On March 8, the Exhibition will host special events celebrating the spirit of womanhood.

These include:

Heritage Walk: A heritage walk featuring women adorned in exquisite sarees will unfold on March 8, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of India's textile traditions.

Fashion Show: On the same day, a fashion show featuring ladies dressed in traditional attire will grace the exhibition, highlighting the timeless elegance of Indian ethnic wear.

Literary Fest: March 10 will witness a Literary Fest exclusively curated by and for women authors. This event provides a platform for women to showcase their literary talents and celebrate their contributions to the world of literature.

“Through initiatives like this exhibition, Rashtrapati Nilayam seeks to celebrate India's rich cultural heritage and promote the invaluable contributions of talented artisans” concluded the statement.
