Hyderabad: HYDRAA chief Ranganath orders immediate cleanup of 6 key Hyderabad lakes ahead of monsoon
Hyderabad: HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath has directed officials to speed up the development works on six key lakes across the city to ensure that they are filled with clean water this monsoon.
He emphasised that the first phase of these lakes must be completed without delay to effectively manage rainwater and improve urban water resources.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, the commissioner inspected Batukammakunta, Bum-Rukn-ud-Daula, Tammidikunta and Sunnam lakes to assess progress.
Increasing water retention capacity of Tammidikunta
At Tammidikunta, which currently covers 14 acres, plans are underway to expand its water retention capacity to 26 acres. Additionally, a four-acre environmental platform will be developed to enhance the areaās ecological balance.
The HYDRAA commissioner stressed the importance of strengthening the lake bunds and recommended constructing concrete walls on the outer edges, especially in areas close to buildings and low-lying zones.
Expanding the water-holding area of Sunnam Lake
Sunnam Lake, spanning 32.20 acres, currently holds water over only 14.18 acres.
