HYDRAA clears 15-year-old road encroachment, reopens 50-foot road for public in Alwal
Hyderabad: Bringing long-awaited relief to residents, HYDRAA on Saturday removed illegal constructions that had blocked a 50-foot-wide road in Arvind Enclave, Alwal, ending a problem that had persisted for nearly 15 years.
The action led to the reopening of Road No. 4, significantly improving connectivity for the colony.
Illegal structures on public road removed
Several property owners had constructed rooms and compound walls by encroaching directly onto the designated roadway, effectively blocking free movement.
Acting on complaints, HYDRAA teams demolished the obstructing structures and cleared the road stretch, restoring its original width.
Residents’ complaint after years of inaction
Residents told officials that despite repeated representations to Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) authorities over the years, the issue remained unresolved.
In their grievance submitted at the HYDRAA Prajavani programme, locals pointed out that if the 50-foot road were cleared, they could reach the main road within 100 metres. Due to the encroachments, however, they were forced to take detours of over a kilometre.
Action on Commissioner’s directions
Following a field inspection, HYDRAA carried out the demolition drive on the instructions of Commissioner A.V. Ranganath. The encroachments were removed swiftly, reopening the road and restoring normal traffic flow within the colony.
Improved access for emergency services
With the road now cleared, residents said access to Harsha Hospital Lane has become easier. They noted that the removal of obstructions has also resolved difficulties faced by ambulances and fire tenders, enhancing overall safety in the area.
Locals appreciate swift response
Expressing relief and satisfaction, residents thanked HYDRAA officials for their prompt and firm action. They said the clearance has finally ended years of hardship and restored their right to safe and direct road access.
