Hyderabad: HYDRAA clears HMDA layout from encroachment at Hydernagar
Hyderabad: Enforcement teams of HYDRAA on Monday launched coordinated anti-encroachment drive in Hydernagar and Puppalaguda, clearing unauthorized structures and reclaiming public spaces.
In Hydernagar, the HYDRAA cleared encroachments spread across 9 acres of a Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) approved layout. The land, which included 79 residential plots, parks, and internal roads, had allegedly been taken over by Dr NDS Prasad through an unregistered agreement.
Plot owners claimed that boundary markers were erased and that the encroacher had been illegally leasing the space, collecting over Rs 50 lakh in monthly rent despite the matter being sub judice for years.
Although a court ruling had favored the original plot owners, they alleged no action was taken until recently. Following a field inspection last Wednesday, HYDRA Commissioner AV Ranganath confirmed encroachments on both residential plots and public utility spaces. The demolition drive was carried out under tight police security.
In Puppalaguda under Manikonda Municipality, another anti-encroachment operation was conducted at Dollar Hills. Officials found that portions of the layout, including roads and park areas, were illegally occupied and under construction without required permissions.
The investigation revealed that one Santosh Reddy had annulled the existing layout, converted the land into agricultural property, and sold it to a private developer, NCC. After hearing from both parties, officials confirmed that public utility areas had been encroached. HYDRAA halted ongoing construction and removed unauthorized structures from the site.
These actions are part of a broader effort by authorities to restore legally designated public spaces and enforce planning norms across the city, the HYDRAA officials said.
