Hyderabad: HYDRAA clears HMDA layout from encroachment at Hydernagar

Hyderabad: In a decisive move against illegal encroachments, HYDRA (Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency) on Monday cleared unauthorized constructions in two separate areas—Hydernagar in Kukatpally Mandal and Puppalaguda in Manikonda Municipality.

The operations were carried out following public grievances submitted through the Prajavani platform.

HYDRA Commissioner AV Ranganath personally inspected the sites along with officials from concerned departments and ordered the removal of encroachments based on the complaints received.

Encroachment cleared at Diamond Hills, Hydernagar

At Diamond Hills in Hydernagar (Survey No. 145), a long-standing land dispute was addressed. The layout, spread over 9 acres and approved by the erstwhile HUDA in 2000, had been partially encroached upon since 2007.

A person named Dr NSD Prasad allegedly occupied 7 acres using an ex-parte decree, misrepresenting the area as agricultural land. Complainants said that plots, roads, parks, and even a swimming pool within the Diamond Hills layout were occupied.

Despite a favorable High Court verdict in September 2024, the area remained under illegal occupation. The complainants also revealed that the encroacher was renting the land out for parking, earning over Rs 50 lakh per month. HYDRAA officials cleared the encroachments on Monday and placed signage marking the area as protected.

Illegal construction stopped at Dollar Hills, Puppalaguda

In another operation, HYDRAA cleared unauthorized construction at Dollar Hills, Puppalaguda (Survey Nos. 104/1, 106, 113). In this case, 60 acres of land were partially developed as a layout in 1998 by a group led by Santosh Reddy.

The preliminary layout, which included around 80 percent sold plots, was canceled by HMDA in 2005 due to regulatory lapses. Later, the land was converted to agricultural use without the knowledge of plot buyers.

Residents alleged that open spaces like parks and roads were merged with adjacent 30-acre land and sold to a real estate company, NCC, despite the ongoing legal battle since 2016. HYDRA, after inspecting the site on May 14, ordered a halt to all illegal construction.

On Monday, HYDRAA dismantled unauthorized structures, including excavated cellars dug without permissions. Officials confirmed that HYDRAA will become a party in court cases involving encroachments on public spaces and has placed warning signs at both sites, asserting its role in safeguarding the land.
