Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) on Tuesday removed a major road encroachment at Kachavani Singaram village in Medipally mandal of Medchal–Malkajgiri district, restoring the full width of a public road that had been blocked for years.

One-kilometre compound wall demolished

Acting on a complaint lodged by the Divyanagar Singarenians Welfare Society, HYDRAA dismantled a nearly one-km-long compound wall that had encroached about 13 feet into a 40-foot-wide road. The wall was constructed by claiming the road portion as part of the adjacent agricultural land.

Road connects three villages

The encroached road connects Narapally, Divyanagar and Kachavani Singaram villages and serves as a key access route for residents.

Following the complaint, HYDRAA officials conducted a detailed field inspection along with concerned local authorities.

Encroachment linked to layout development

During the inspection, officials found that when four layouts were developed under the name Divyanagar Phase-5, a 40-foot-wide road had been officially earmarked as per approved plans.

However, later, the adjacent landowner, Malipeddi Hanuman Reddy, allegedly extended his compound wall into the road by 13 feet, citing ownership of nearby agricultural land.

Decade-old dispute ends

The issue had been a source of dispute for nearly a decade between Hanuman Reddy and more than 1,000 plot owners in the layouts. Welfare society representatives had repeatedly raised the matter at HYDRAA Prajavani grievance meetings, seeking intervention.

Road restored to public use

After verifying layout records and ground realities, HYDRAA removed the illegal compound wall and restored the road to its original width, making it fully accessible to the public once again.

Public applauds HYDRAA’s action

Locals welcomed HYDRAA’s decisive action, expressing relief and appreciation for the agency’s efforts to protect public roads and prevent illegal encroachments.
