Hyderabad: HYDRAA demolishes unauthorised compound wall at Dalitawada
Hyderabad: Enforcement teams of HYDRAA demolished an unauthorized compound wall constructed by Tirumala Colony Ventures, following a complaint filed by the residents during the Prajavani on February 17.
HYDRAA's action ended the four-decade-long struggle of Devarayamjalās Dalitawada residents to have an approach to their houses in Thumkunta Municipality, Shamirpet Mandal in Medchal-Malkajgiri district.
Dalitwada residents alleged that the roads to their locality used to be accessible from all directions earlier, but that after the Tirumala Colony Ventures arrived in 1985, the routes were closed to them. Despite meeting with the appropriate higher officials and submitting petitions, their efforts had been in vain, the residents said.
After complaining to HYDRAA on February 17, the residents of Dalitawada said that they had earlier brought their complaint to the SC/ST Commission in February 2022 and had been given directives that were never carried out.

The victims also informed HYDRAA that neither ambulances nor fire engines could enter their community, forcing them to transport pregnant ladies to an ambulance outside their neighborhood. Residents could only access two-wheelers through a tight passageway.
After thoroughly investigating the issue, HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath instructed the staff to dismantle the unauthorized compound wall that had been erected there to ensure that the roads leading to Dalitawada were not obstructed.
Locals expressed their excitement at finding a way to Dalitwada. Meanwhile, the residents of Dalits have sighed with relief as a result of the roads opening.
Earlier during emergencies, people had to carry a patient to a main road to get an ambulance.
