HYDRAA demolishes unauthorized compound wall at Divya Nagar layout; residents heave sigh of relief

Hyderabad: HYDRAAā€™s enforcement teams on Saturday demolished an unauthorized compound wall constructed around the Divya Nagar layout.

The constructions were preventing access to many colonies and residential areas in Pocharam Municipality, Medchal-Malkajgiri district.

The action follows a complaint by the plot owners against Nalla Mallareddy for unlawfully building a compound wall around the Divya Nagar layout and setting up a gate that prevented them from entering the property.

The total area of Divya Nagar Layout is up to 200 acres and consists of 2,218 plots. Locals alleged that around 30 percent of these plots belong to Nalla Mallareddy. Locals complained that besides threatening the plot owners, Nalla Mallareddy also encroached on 6.06 acres of government land in survey number 66.

Taking serious note of the issue, HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath also visited the spot on January 8. During his visit, many residents complained to Ranganath that they were facing severe problems due to the closure of the roads from the Divya Nagar layout to their residences.

In the background of these complaints, the HYDRAA Commissioner discussed with both parties at his office on January 23. Apart from the closure of the roads, many people complained that they could not sell their plots in those layouts. Even if it is sold, the sales should be done in the presence of Nalla Mallareddy, and he should be paid Rs 50,000 by the plot owners, they complained.

The plot owners said layout development charges were collected from them to construct a huge compound. They alleged that sewage systems and roads were not constructed. When they questioned Nalla Mallareddy, he and his supporters attacked them to force them into submission.

One of the complainants alleged that despite working for the Singareni company and buying the plots, he was deprived of the opportunity to sell them for his own needs. He also lamented that they filed a complaint against Nalla Mallareddy, but there was no result.

Another complainant also alleged that Nalla Mallareddy blocked access to plots and restricted visits to designated times, with entry recorded in a gate logbook. He even threatened and used his force against those who questioned him.

After hearing the arguments of both sides, the HYDRAA officials confirmed that there were no permits for the construction of the compound wall in Divya Nagar. In this context, the Commissioner ordered the demolition of the compound wall in Divya Nagar.

The removal of the compound wall restored access to surrounding colonies, including Ekashila Layout, Venkatadri Township, Suprabahat Venture-1, Maheshwara Colony, Kachavani Singaram, Ekashila Nagar, Peerjadiguda Road, Balaji Nagar, Suprabhat Venture-2, 3, 4, VGH Colony, Pratap Singaram Road, Sai Priya, Medipalli, Parvatha Puram, Chennareddy Colony, Hills View Colony, and Muttelliguda.

Plot owners in Divya Nagar Layout and residents of surrounding areas expressed relief after the demolition of the compound wall.
