HYDRAA foils Rs 86 Cr land grab in Kondapur, fences 4,300 sq yd public plot

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) has prevented a major land grab in Kondapur, Serilingampally Mandal, Rangareddy district, saving public land valued at nearly Rs. 86 crore.

Legal proceedings initiated

Criminal cases have been registered at Gachibowli Police Station against the encroachers, including Chintala Pochayya, Chintala Raju, Kolli Madhav Reddy, and his son, for their involvement in the fraudulent sale of public land.

Public land protected

After safeguarding a 2,000 sq. yard park in Raghavendra Colony on Friday, HYDRAA moved swiftly to protect an adjacent 4,300 sq. yard plot in the Osmania University Teachers Welfare Society area of Rajarajeshwari Nagar. The land was originally earmarked for public amenities including schools.

Historical layout and encroachment

The 4,300 sq. yard plot was part of a 1978 Gram Panchayat layout containing 350 plots. The layout was created by Chintala Pochayya and his family for community use.

Officials allege that Pochayya and his relative Chintala Raju later divided the plot into three parts and sold it to the Kolli Madhav Reddy family using forged documents. Despite repeated complaints to GHMC, no action was initially taken.

HYDRAA takes action

Following complaints from local residents, HYDRAA, under the direction of Commissioner AV Ranganath, conducted a thorough field inspection. Confirming the encroachments, HYDRAA removed the illegal occupants on Saturday and installed fencing and official boards to protect the land.
