HYDRAA frees Chandanagar park of encroachments, restores access to public roads in Ghatkesar

Hyderabad: HYDRAA clears encroachments at Chandanagar park, demolishes walls blocking roads in Ghatkesar

Hyderabad: In a decisive move to reclaim public spaces, the HYDRAA conducted major anti-encroachment drives in two key localities—Maitreya Nagar in Chandanagar and Jayapuri Colony, Ghatkesar—on Wednesday.

The action comes in response to multiple public grievances submitted via the State’s Prajavani complaint platform.

One-acre park freed from encroachment in Maitreya Nagar

In Serilingampally mandal’s Maitreya Nagar, HYDRAA intervened to clear encroachments on a one-acre plot officially designated as a public park. The land had been illegally divided and sold as plots, despite legal recognition of its park status.

Although the land’s designation had been upheld in various courts, ongoing litigation had delayed any formal resolution. Residents reported that the encroacher continued attempts to control the land, turning the area into a dumping ground overrun with thorny bushes and abandoned sheds.

Land worth Rs 40 crore reclaimed

The neglected state of the land posed serious safety concerns, including snake sightings and limited access for children.

HYDRAA, acting on complaints from local representatives, removed the bushes and temporary structures, restoring the park for public use. The land, estimated to be worth Rs 40 crore, was successfully reclaimed.

Public roads reopened in Ghatkesar’s Jayapuri Colony

In a separate operation in Ghatkesar, HYDRAA officials demolished illegal boundary walls constructed across public roads in Jayapuri Colony, located adjacent to the Outer Ring Road (ORR).

Originally laid out in 1968, the area had been misrepresented as agricultural land by certain individuals who obtained forged land documents. Though revenue officials had nullified the fraudulent records, the encroachers continued asserting ownership and built obstructions across designated public roads.

After receiving complaints from affected plot owners—Mamidi Somayya, Enugu Rama Rao and Jagan—HYDRAA acted under the instructions of commissioner AV Ranganath. The walls blocking roadways were demolished on Wednesday, restoring rightful access to residents.
