HYDRAA issues warning on scammers charging money to determine Ameenpur Lake FTL
Hyderabad: HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath has warned residents staying near Ameenpur Pedda Cheruvu about a fake ‘joint action committee’ which is taking money illegally from people in the name of determining the lake’s FTL (full tank level).
The JAC was claiming to save people’s houses from demolition in exchange for money.
Ameenpur Pedda Cheruvu have receipts of payments made to fake JAC
The commissioner took serious note of the complaints received by HYDRAA that many people around Ameenpur Pedda Cheruvu were involved in raids being organised in the name of a fake JAC. People said that they met a person called Nanduri Satyanarayana, who introduced himself as the JAC chairman and issued printed receipts for the payments he took.
The flood victims staying at Ameenpur Pedda Cheruvu showed receipts and WhatsApp messages to the HYDRAA commissioner that some people were collecting money on their behalf.
Ranganath also warned that strict action would be taken against anyone who takes advantage of HYDRAA’s exercise on FTL determination of Ameenpur Pedda Cheruvu. He advised the flood victims to file a complaint against the perpetrators at the police station. He even asked the officials to file cases from HYDRAA as well.
JNTU and IIT college teams to help determine FTL
“HYDRAA is doing an analysis as to how a 95-acre pond expanded to 450 acres. The government is also looking into this matter. Apart from comparing data with village records, the Survey of India and the National Remote Sensing Centre images will complete the FTL determination after reviewing with the officials,” the HYDRAA commissioner said.
Elaborating further, he said a committee would be formed with teams from JNTU and IIT colleges, and the determination of FTL would be done. This process will be completed within two or three months.
“In an impartial manner without any room for any mistakes, the FTL (full tank level) of Ameenpur Pedda Cheruvu would be determined. The public is requested to have patience until then,” he said, and he added that people should ignore any unauthorised personnel who are claiming to save plots of flooded layouts by taking money.
