HYDRAA: No forced evictions at Kukatpally’s Nallacheruvu; only illegal sheds within FTL removed

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) on Thursday clarified that no eviction or demolition drive was carried out at Kukatpally in Nallacheruvu, countering the misinformation being circulated about alleged forced removals.

HYDRAA officials stated that the agency had only acted within the Full Tank Level (FTL) limits of the lake under Survey No. 176, where temporary plastic-sheet sheds had been erected illegally by garbage collectors and scrap segregators.

Voluntary evacuation after legal notice

The individuals engaged in door-to-door garbage collection and scrap sorting vacated the area on their own after being informed that their temporary shelters fell within the protected FTL zone of the lake.

Officials clarified that no force was used and the sheds were dismantled peacefully following court directions. The agency added that the illegal dumping of waste and scrap activity at the site had been causing severe pollution to lake waters, a fact that was also placed before the Telangana High Court.

Survey number twist and fresh encroachment attempt

HYDRAA revealed that certain land grabbers are now trying to divert the issue to Survey No. 180, creating a false narrative of the eviction of poor hut dwellers.

After the garbage collectors left Survey No. 176, encroachers allegedly made a last-ditch attempt to take over the land by projecting it as a resettlement issue.

Officials disclosed that some of these individuals had earlier collected rents from garbage collectors and scrap dealers and are now attempting to claim the land themselves.

High Court informed of ground reality

HYDRAA categorically informed the High Court that clearance was restricted only to Survey No. 176, which falls under Nallacheruvu’s FTL. The pollution of lake water due to waste dumping was brought to the court’s notice.

Petitions seeking compensation under Survey No. 180 were misleading, as no action was initiated there. Following the court’s instructions to verify land records and issue notices only where required, the occupants vacated peacefully two to three days ago.

HYDRAA denies forced evictions

Rejecting allegations of arbitrary action, HYDRA stated that no removals were carried out on Thursday. All actions so far were voluntary and legally verified. The present controversy is being engineered by encroachment elements attempting to mislead the public.
