HYDRAA Prajavani: Kondapur residents claim real estate firm encroached 1.20 acres of govt land

Hyderabad: Residents of Sri Ramnagar Colony in Kondapur have alleged that a real estate firm has illegally encroached upon 1.20 acres of government land in Survey No. 202, blocking the only approach road to their locality and leaving several households without proper access.

Access to homes cut off

According to the residents, the alleged encroachment has completely obstructed the internal road leading to their homes, causing daily hardship, especially for the elderly, children and emergency services.

Allegations against real estate firm

Locals claimed that a private real estate company has fenced off and occupied the government land, despite the area being earmarked for public use, thereby violating land and civic norms.

On Monday alone, 44 complaints were received at HYDRAA Prajavani, many of them accompanied by details of earlier representations made to various departments without any tangible action.

Roads encroached, access blocked

Residents complained that not only vacant plots but even fully laid roads are being occupied, severely affecting mobility.

In several cases, internal roads and traditional pathways that have been in use for decades are being fenced off or built upon, leaving residents without access.

Here are some of the major complaints

- Vanastalipuram, Hayathnagar (Rangareddy district):

Locals from Sri Veeranjaneya Colony, Saheb Nagar, alleged that an 18-foot-wide road has been encroached upon by adjacent plot owners.

Even electricity poles along the road have reportedly been included within fenced private areas. Despite repeated representations, residents claim no action has been taken by local authorities.

- Old Alwal–Macha Bollaram (Secunderabad):

Representatives of the Balaji Enclave Welfare Association complained that a 30-foot road near the Suryanagar bus stop has been encroached upon up to seven feet, disrupting bus movement and causing traffic inconvenience.

- Srinagar Village, Maheshwaram (Rangareddy district):

Residents alleged that long-standing kachcha roads in Survey Nos. 249 and 248 have been blocked recently, despite being used by locals for decades.

- Upperpally, Rajendranagar (Rangareddy district):

Members of the PMR Apartments Residents Welfare Association complained that illegal constructions near the Inner Ring Road are encroaching upon public roads, hampering smooth vehicular movement.

Encroachment impacting water bodies

- Sardar Nagar Village, Maheshwaram (Rangareddy district):

Residents alleged that plots in an HMDA-approved layout are getting submerged in Raviryala Cheruvu and urged authorities to immediately demarcate the Full Tank Level (FTL) of the lake to safeguard their properties.

HYDRA Commissioner AV Ranganath personally reviewed the complaints and directed the officials concerned to take responsibility for resolving the issues.
