Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) has reclaimed 600 square yards of land in Gachibowli, estimated to be worth Rs 11 crore.

The agency said that the operation was a major crackdown on illegal land sales in the city.

Parks reclaimed from encroachment

The recovered land falls within a 24-acre layout developed by the Telangana Secretariat Mutual Aided Cooperative Society.

HYDRAA teams inspected the site on Tuesday and identified two plots designated for parks that had been illegally occupied. The encroachments were cleared, fencing was installed, and warning boards were put up marking the land as protected park space.

Allegations of illegal sales

According to complaints, the society’s management had sold portions of land earmarked for parks and public utilities, despite the layout being officially approved by HMDA. Acting on these complaints, HYDRAA confirmed the violations and stepped in to secure the plots.

Probe into land deals underway

Authorities have launched a detailed inquiry into how the sales were executed, who sold and purchased the land, and which parties were involved.

HYDRAA has also announced that it is reviewing other plots within the same layout to identify further irregularities.

Cases will be registered against those found guilty of carrying out illegal transactions, the HYDRAA officials said.
