HYDRAA restores 1.27 acre park in Hastinapuram, recovers public land in Chandanagar
Hyderabad: Stepping up its crackdown on land encroachments, the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) carried out a series of demolition and clearance operations at multiple locations in the city on Tuesday.
Acting on public grievances filed through the Prajavani platform, the teams, under the supervision of HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath, inspected the sites and removed unauthorised occupations on public land.
Encroached park recovered in Hastinapuram
A 1.27-acre park area at Hastinapuram North Extension Colony in Karmanghat village, Saroornagar mandal of Rangareddy district, was freed from encroachment.
According to officials, residents’ association members had complained that the land earmarked as a park in the approved layout was being sold off as residential plots.
Following a detailed field verification, HYDRAA officials cleared the illegal constructions, restored the park site and fenced the entire area. Display boards were also installed, marking it as government land protected by HYDRAA.
Social welfare layout land protected in Chandanagar
In another operation, HYDRAA officials reclaimed 500 square yards of public utility land in Gangaram Colony under the Chandanagar Circle of Serilingampally Zone.
The land formed part of a 1974 layout developed by the Social Welfare Department under the name ‘Subhashnagar,’ meant for economically weaker sections.
Over the years, portions of the area meant for civic amenities had been illegally converted into private plots. Acting on a complaint by residents through Prajavani, the encroachments were cleared and fencing erected to prevent further intrusion.
HYDRAA warns against future encroachments
Officials emphasised that the ongoing drive aims to safeguard lands earmarked for community use and ensure adherence to approved layouts.
HYDRAA has warned that strict action will be taken against individuals or entities involved in illegal occupation of public or government property. The authority plans to intensify similar anti-encroachment operations across the city in the coming weeks.
