Hyderabad: In response to complaints received through the Prajavani programme, HYDRAA commissioner AV Ranganath undertook extensive field inspections across multiple localities.

The visits aimed to assess ground realities pertaining to land encroachments, stalled infrastructure projects and urban flooding issues. He ordered the officials to begin immediate corrective action and assured affected residents of timely resolution through follow-up reviews.

Encroachments removed in Sanskruti Township

One of the major concerns addressed during the inspection was the obstruction of a 100-foot-wide road in Sanskruti Township, located under the Pocharam Municipality.

Landowners had allegedly constructed gates across the proposed road, blocking access. Commissioner Ranganath ordered the removal of these gates and instructed municipal officials to mark the road as per the approved master plan and begin construction without further delay.

Disputed layout in Ekashila Nagar reviewed

The commissioner also reviewed complaints in Koremula village regarding the Ekashila Nagar layout, which was initially approved in 1985 over an extent of 147 acres. Residents alleged that in 2006, nearly 47 acres of this land were wrongly reclassified as agricultural land.

Plot owners, despite holding court orders in their favour, claimed they were being denied construction permissions. Ranganath assured that all related documents would be examined and a meeting involving both parties would be held next week to arrive at a resolution.

Road blocked by land claim in Neknampur

In Neknampur, the commissioner inspected an area where local residents had staked ownership claims over approximately 20 acres of government land, thereby obstructing the construction of a major road.

The disputed stretch falls under high-tension electric lines. Ranganath directed that public infrastructure works should not be hindered and stated that a meeting with claimants and relevant officials will be convened next week to review all legal records.

Flood canal encroachments identified

At Gachibowli’s Janardhan Hills and Khaitalapur, the commissioner observed significant encroachments on natural stormwater drains. He inspected the flood canal that runs from Mullakathva Lake to IDL Lake and subsequently toward the Kukatpally drainage system.

Unauthorised constructions were found along the canal’s route, hampering its flow. Ranganath instructed the concerned departments to initiate the removal of these encroachments and expedite nala (drain) widening works to prevent future flooding.

Drainage issues at Moosapet Metro

Local residents near Moosapet Metro Station highlighted the recurring problem of waterlogging caused by a narrowed drain.

Ranganath acknowledged the issue and stated that expanding the nala near Shivashakti Nagar would offer a permanent solution. He instructed municipal authorities to take up the expansion works immediately.

Public assurance and next steps

Commissioner Ranganath assured residents that the administration is committed to resolving their grievances in a transparent and time-bound manner.

He stated that follow-up meetings would be held next week to assess documents, address disputes, and monitor progress on ground-level works. His visit provided much-needed assurance to affected citizens and reinforced the administration’s focus on responsive governance.
