HYDRAA saves 1,000-sq-yard public parkland worth Rs 13 crore in Madinaguda
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRA) on Monday safeguarded a 1,000-square-yard public park valued at nearly Rs 13 crore in Madinaguda village of Serilingampally mandal, Rangareddy district, by removing illegal encroachments and erecting protective fencing around the site.
Parkland meant for public use
The land in question falls under Survey No. 23 in Ushodaya Enclave, a HUDA-approved layout.
As per the sanctioned plan, 1,000 square yards were earmarked exclusively for a public park and were formally handed over to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) through a registered gift deed.
Illegal encroachment, complete with compound walls
Despite the clear documentation, a local individual allegedly encroached upon the parkland by constructing a precast compound wall and bringing the property under his control.
This blocked public access to the park, triggering sustained protests by residents of Ushodaya Enclave who demanded restoration of the land for community use.

Local agencies failed to act
Residents alleged that although official records clearly identified the site as parkland, the local civic and revenue authorities failed to take effective action for a prolonged period, allowing the encroachment to continue.
HYDRAA steps in after Prajavani's complaint
Acting on a complaint received through Prajavani, HYDRAA officials, along with Revenue and GHMC authorities, conducted a joint field inspection.
After confirming that the land was legally designated as a park, HYDRAA demolished the illegal compound wall on Monday.
Fencing and signboards installed
To prevent future encroachments, HYDRAA erected fencing around the entire park area and installed official signboards declaring the land as a public park reserved for community use.
The action has brought relief to residents, who welcomed HYDRAA’s intervention in protecting a vital public asset meant for recreational and environmental purposes.
