HYDRAA saves 3,000-sq-yard public park land worth Rs 35 crore from encroachment in Kukatpally
Hyderabad: HYDRAA on Saturday reclaimed and secured two park sites spread over 3,000 square yards in the Kukatpally area. The market value of the protected land is estimated at around Rs 35 crore.
Complaint triggers action
The action followed a complaint lodged at HYDRAA Prajavani by the residents’ welfare association of Bhagyanagar Phase–III colony, alleging large-scale encroachment of park lands earmarked in the approved layout.
Field inspection and findings
Acting on the directions of HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath, officials from multiple departments conducted a detailed field inspection.
The layout of Bhagyanagar Phase–III, approved by HUDA in 1987, covers 36 acres in Survey Nos. 197 and 200 series and consists of 357 residential plots.

During the inspection, officials found that two designated parks in the colony had been encroached upon. Of the 2,000 sq yard park, nearly half had been illegally occupied, while about 1,000 sq yards of another park spread over one acre had also fallen prey to encroachment.
Encroachments cleared, fencing installed
Based on the inspection report, the Commissioner ordered immediate removal of the illegal structures. HYDRAA officials cleared the encroachments on Saturday and secured both park sites by erecting fencing. Boards were also installed, clearly marking the lands as park areas to prevent future violations.
Protecting public spaces
Officials said the action reflects HYDRAA’s commitment to safeguarding public assets and preserving green spaces meant for community use, warning that strict action will continue against encroachments on government and civic lands across the city.
