Hyderabad: Neeru’s Jubilee Hills outlet, Nampally furniture store sealed for violating fire safety rules
Hyderabad: A popular garment showroom in Jubilee Hills and a furniture shop in Nampally were among the establishments that were sealed for gross violations of fire safety norms.
The action was taken during Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency’s (HYDRAA) fire safety inspections across commercial establishments in the city on Thursday.
Neeru’s showroom sealed in Jubilee Hills
As part of the drive, officials inspected Neeru’s showroom on Road No. 36, Jubilee Hills. The inspection revealed three cellar levels and four floors being used for commercial activity, along with an unauthorised rooftop shed packed with garments.
Authorities found that sales were being carried out on two floors, while the remaining upper floors were used for garment manufacturing and large-scale storage, effectively operating like a warehouse.

HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath took serious note of the absence of a Fire No Objection Certificate (NOC), inadequate fire extinguishers, and multiple violations of fire safety norms.
‘Fire unsafe’ notice put up
Following the inspection, the showroom was declared a ‘fire unsafe’ premises, sealed, fenced by HYDRAA and the power supply was disconnected by the electricity department.
Officials from HYDRAA, Fire Services, GHMC and the power utility participated in the action.
Furniture showroom locked in Nampally
Similarly, in Nampally’s Station Road area, a furniture showroom housed in a six-storey building was sealed after inspectors found extensive fire safety violations.
The action comes days after a deadly fire at a nearby furniture store that claimed five lives.
During the inspection, officials observed that large quantities of furniture stock were stored across the cellar and all six floors, blocking staircases and emergency exits. The building was operating without a Fire NOC, and no fire extinguishers were found on any floor.
Taking a serious view, the HYDRAA Commissioner ordered immediate sealing of the premises. Power supply was cut and all commercial activities in the building were stopped with the support of GHMC, Fire Services and electricity department officials.
Public urged to report fire safety violations
Ranganath appealed to citizens to report fire safety violations in shops and commercial complexes. Complaints can be lodged with the HYDRAA control room at 9000113667 or directly to 7207923085.
The Commissioner urged the public to share details, along with photos or videos via WhatsApp, of establishments illegally converted into warehouses, excessive storage of flammable materials, or unsafe use of cellars.
Complaints can also be submitted through the official Commissioner_HYDRAA account on X (Twitter).
HYDRAA officials reiterated that strict action, including sealing and power disconnection, will continue against establishments endangering public safety.
