Meeting the Lake Man of India
Upon their visit, āLake Man of Indiaā Anand Malligavad accompanied the HYDRAA delegation to Doddathoguru Lake.
Anand explained to Ranganathās delegation how wastewater is naturally purified in four to five stages before being directed to the main lake. He demonstrated various natural methods for developing lakes in different stages.
After inspecting the lake, the HYDRAA commissioner commended the efforts of the officials in developing the lake with the support of the IT companies.
Biological methods to treat wastewater
The entire lake development programme was carried out by adopting biological methods and the wastewater in the lake was purified and later reutilised for a park and walking track developed on the bunds of the lake.
Apart from that, the officials also developed a method to store the rainwater in the lake and maintain the quality of water in the lake to encourage aquatic and marine life which means the pollutant levels were low in the lake, he said and added that Anand Malligavad on behalf of his Malligavad foundation already developed a few lakes in Hyderabad and a few are in the pipeline.
āDefinitely, we will utilise his services on behalf of the Telangana Government and soon efforts will be made to revive a few lakes in Hyderabad with the support of the Lake Man of India,ā Ranganath said.
