Hyderabad: HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath said that an investigation will be conducted from the survey results of the DGPS (Differential Global Positioning System) over the alleged encroachments at Nandagiri Hills, HUDA Enclave Colony and Guru Brahmanagar Basti.

Ranganath stated that once the surveys are completed, HYDRAA will work with both GHMC and HMDA, as well as the collector, to devise a plan to rehabilitate Basti people. He also warned of severe sanctions and repercussions for land grabs or encroachments.

The HYDRAA commissioner, accompanied by Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender, conducted a ground-level inspection of the encroachments. At Nandagiri Hills and HUDA Enclave Colony, Ranganath inspected the parks encroached upon and the unauthorised structures came up in Guru Brahmanagar Basti.

During the inspection, the HYDRAA chief discovered potentially unlawful projects, including a compound wall built near the Nandagiri layout to secure a park in a slum area, which was mostly built with tin sheets. According to the HYDRAA's complaint, the wall is suspected of violating encroachment legislation.

Meanwhile, the residents of Guru Brahmanagar Basti complained to Ranganath that a section of people were encroaching upon the site allocated to construct double-bedroom facilities. The commissioner assured the residents that all persons involved would be summoned and their credentials would also be checked.

He also stated that the government intends to provide Pakka houses to Guru Brahma Nagar Basti inhabitants.

The HYDRAA commissioner accompanied by other officials toured the localities for about two hours and examined the government lakes and parks.

"Once the surveys are completed by the concerned departments, a park in the neighbourhood will be rebuilt through MNC CSR projects. Every inch of illegal encroachment will be taken back by the government," Danam Nagender said.

Illegal trespassing case on Danam Nagender from 2024

In August 2024, a criminal case was registered against Danam Nagender regarding illegal trespassing and demolition of the compound wall on GHMC property. The charges include trespassing, demolition, and violating the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act.

In his complaint to the Khairatabad police, enforcement in-charge V Papaiah stated that unidentified persons illegally trespassed and razed a compound wall in the presence of the MLA at Jubilee Hillsā€™ Nandagiri Hills, which was part of the layoutā€™s open space and was GHMC property.

The complaint stated that the demolition caused a financial loss of around Rs 10 lakh, and the complainant asked for urgent action and the imposition of appropriate charges on the implicated offenders.
