Hyderabad: SCR starts 40 new MMTS services; check stations, schedule

Hyderabad: South Central Railway (SCR) announced the addition of 40 new Multi-Modal Transport System (MMTS) services.
The move will greatly benefit travelers to and from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA),
The new services will save both time and money for travelers.
With the addition of these new services, MMTS will now operate a total of 106 services. With the extension of services up to Medchal and Umdanagar stations, the services will now cover a distance of 90 km. This is a significant increase from the existing 48 km, and it will greatly enhance rail connectivity between different parts of the twin cities, especially the eastern part.
New Routes and Services
20 MMTS services have been added between Secunderabad and Medchal.
20 services extended from Falaknuma to Umdanagar.
Suburban services between Secunderabad and Medchal will connect various stations including Malkajgiri, Dayanand Nagar, Safilguda, Ramakistapuram, Ammuguda, Cavalry Barracks, Alwal Bolarum, Gundlapochampally, and Gowdavalli, among others.
Services that operated until Falaknuma have been extended to Umdanagar, the closest railway station to RGIA.
Benefits for the Commuters
The extension of MMTS strengthens rail connectivity between different parts of the twin cities, especially the eastern part, and will be particularly beneficial to students, employees, small business people, women, and the general public. Moreover, the MMTS is the most cost-effective means of transport in the twin city region, with fares ranging from Rs 5 to Rs 15.
Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager of South Central Railway, affirmed the organization's longstanding pledge to extend economical and safe travel services to all parts of the city. He mentioned the implementation of various measures to ensure the accessibility of MMTS services to every area. He further stated that the remaining stretches of the MMTS Phase-II extension are undergoing rapid development.
Future Plans
The MMTS Phase-II extension is expected to cover a total of 84 km, with the network stretching up to Ghatkesar and beyond. The SCR is also planning to introduce new MMTS services to help commuters traveling to and from the IT hubs in the city.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded the expansion of the MMTS Rail Network up to 90km in Hyderabad and Secunderabad by sharing a tweet of South Central Railway. āThis shall benefit the people of Hyderabad, Secunderabad, and nearby areas,ā he tweeted.
