Telangana: Pamela Satpathy, IAS, is the new district collector and magistrate for Karimnagar. She has been transferred from her former position as director of Municipal Administration, Hyderabad. On Monday, the Telangana chief secretary Santhi Kumari issued the posting orders.

Similarly, IPS officer Abhishek Mohanty, DCP Traffic Rachakonda was transferred and posted as commissioner of police, Karimnagar. The members of service are directed to assume charge of the post by 7 pm on Monday and report compliance.

Earlier, Karimnagar police commissioner L Subba Rayudu IPS and collector B Gopi were transferred by the Election Commission of India (ECI), ahead of the Telangana Assembly elections. The bureaucratic circuit in Telangana, though tight-lipped, has termed the transfers as the ‘act of the Bharatiya Janata Party.’

A senior officer who was transferred in the first round alleged that the ECI is acting on the complaints filed by BJP president Kishan Reddy, MLA Raghunandan Rao, and MP Bandi Sanjay.

In the first round, on October 11, the ECI transferred 13 senior police officials, four collectors, one IAS, and two officers in Telangana, citing ‘laxity in their work.’ The transferred officials include Hyderabad police commissioner CV Anand, Warangal commissioner AV Ranganath, and Nizamabad police chief V Satyanarayana.

In the second round on October 20, P Radha Kishan, OSD Task Force Hyderabad was transferred and is yet to be given a position. On the same day, five DCPs including Birudaraju Rohith Raju, B Balaswamy, DCP, SB, Rachakonda; Nitika Pant, IPS, DCP, Women Safety, Cyberabad; Dr Chetana Mylabhatula, IPS, joint director, Anti-Corruption Bureau, Hyderabad; and Dr Tarun Joshi, IPS, IGP, Training, was transferred. However, all five were given postings.
