Illegal Cattle Transport: Here is why Karmanghat was on boil
The area located on the fringes of Rachakonda police commissionerate witnessed few tense atmospheres on Tuesday night.
By Newsmeter Network Published on 23 Feb 2022 9:57 AM GMTHyderabad: On February 22 at around 10 pm, Rachakonda police arrested seven persons in connection with the illegal cattle transport and the communal tensions that followed at Karmanghat area of Greater Hyderabad.
The area located on the fringes of Rachakonda police commissionerate witnessed few tense atmospheres on Tuesday night. Yousuf runs a beef shop at Bhavani Nagar and his son Nissar assists him. It all began when on February 22 at about 9 pm, Yousuf and Nissar went to Mall X Roads in Nalgonda and purchased two Buffalo calves and three calves and transported them in a Bolero vehicle belonging to Lingamaiah from Mall X Roads in Nalgonda to Hyderabad.
On the same day at about 7:30 pm, when they reached near Gayatri Nagar, Meerpet, the complainant, Koti Mayuresh from Gosha Mahal in Hyderabad, requested them to stop the vehicle but they didn't heed and continued to proceed further. The complainant along with his friends started following them in their Innova and stopped them in front of the Hindustan Marble shop in Karmanghat and questioned them.
Yousuf and Nissar started abusing Mayuresh and his friends in filthy language and picked up a quarrel. In response, Mayuresh and his friends attacked them with iron rods. In this altercation, the driver of the Bolero vehicle, Lingamaiah was injured on his head.
On seeing this Mayuresh panicked and ran away along with his friends to the nearby Hanuman temple in Karmanghat. Yousuf and Nissar called their friends Nawaz, Gouse, Ayub, and Kamal to the spot, chased Mayuresh and his friends into the premises of the temple, and attacked them. Mayuresh and his friends sustained simple bleeding injuries in this attack.
After this incident, huge numbers of people from one community gathered at Hanuman Temple, Karmanghat under Saroornagar Police Station limits to protest the entry of people from another community into the temple.
When the police tried to pacify the mob, they started chanting slogans and pelting stones at the police, and several police officers got injured including SI Madhava Reddy of Vanasthalipuram Police Station who received severe head fracture injury to his skull and was immediately rushed to the nearest hospital for treatment. Later the police pacified the mob.
The seven arrested have been identified as Mohammad Yousuf (50) from Bhavani Nagar in Hyderabad, Mohammad Nissar, son of Yousuf (19), Mohammad Nawaz (23), Mohammad Gouse (23) also from Santhosh Nagar in Hyderabad, Mohammad Ayub (20) Santhosh Nagar Colony in Hyderabad (all three from Santhosh Nagar colony in Hyderabad), Mohammad Mosin Kamal (35) from Saidabad in Hyderabad, and driver of the Bolero Soudamoni Lingamaiah (26) from Ranga Reddy.
A case was also filed by the Bolero driver Lingamaiah in Meerpet police station. This case is under investigation.Cases have been registered against cow vigilantes who damaged police vehicles near Meerpet police station, for grievously injuring Vanasthalipuram SI, and for damage of police vehicles near Karmanghat Hanuman temple.
The Bolero vehicle, three calves & two buffalo calves, a Honda Activa MotorCycle, six mobile phones, and six iron rods were also seized.
