Hyderabad: In three months since its inception, enforcement teams of the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring Agency (HYDRAA) have reclaimed 43.94 acres of encroached land in the Outer Ring Road (ORR) limits.
A detailed report in this regard was reportedly submitted to the Telangana State government by HYDRAA commissioner AV Ranganath. As per the report, HYDRAAās enforcement teams had demolished 18 properties within ORR limits.

In the interest of going beyond political affiliations
Claiming to be free of political affiliations, HYDRAA teams carried out demolition drives despite facing severe criticism from the ruling Congress leaders.
In a demolition drive on August 18, HYDRAA demolished illegal structures at Gandipet, Khanapur, allegedly belonging to various politicians over encroachment claims. A property (ORO Sports), said to be owned by former Congress MP Pallam Rajuās brother Pallam Anand, was demolished. A building that had housed a Congress party office was also razed.

HYDRAAās enforcement teams also demolished Kaveri Seeds owner and former TTD member GV Bhasker Raoās structure, followed by a structure belonging to Sunil Reddy, a BJP MLA candidate who contested from the Manthani constituency.
Similarly, a structure belonging to Anupama, wife of a Pro Kabaddi team owner Srinivas, was also demolished. HYDRAA also took action on a temporary shed encroaching Chintal Lake. It was allegedly erected by Ratnakaram Sai Raju, a local BRS leader.
During its enforcement drives, HYDRAA faced severe criticism from Danam Nagender. The Congress Khairatabad MLA was recently booked for allegedly supporting encroachers to demolish a compound wall.
In another demolition drive, a five-storeyed building built by Mohammed Mubeen, the AIMIM MLA from Bahadurpura, was demolished along with the partyās two-storeyed building under the name of Mirza Rahmat Beig, an AIMIM MLC.
Apart from targeting illegal buildings around lakes, HYDRAA has also taken action on parks, roads and nalas that were encroaching land around water bodies.
Demolition of Nagarjunaās N Convention Centre
Meanwhile, HYDRAA demolished the N Convention Centre belonging to popular Tollywood actor Akkineni Nagarjuna in Madhapur here on Saturday.
Nagarjunaās N Convention Centre, spread over 10 acres, was said to have encroached two acres of a nearby lake.
Later, Telangana High Court issued interim orders halting the demolition. In a post on X, Nagarjuna said his convention centre was unlawfully demolished, which had hurt him and that he would seek appropriate relief from the court.
The court has also issued an interim order on Saturday afternoon, halting the demolition.

Gandipet Welfare Society backs HYDRAA's demolition drive
Residents of Gandipet Welfare Society take out a walk to support the demolition drive taken by the HYDRAA near Gandipet lake in Rajendernagar.
Residents irrespective of age groups participated in the walk carrying placards and raised slogans 'Save Lakes, Save Life'.
The residents said that almost all the ponds have already been encroached. If the ponds in #Hyderabad are not protected, there will be trouble for water during summer like Bengaluru.
