Indira Park X Roads steel bridge opens on August 19; make note of traffic diversions
The steel bridge was built using 12,500 MT of special alloy steel and up to 20,000 cubic metres of concrete
By Newsmeter Network Published on 18 Aug 2023 12:31 PM GMTHyderabad: In connection with the inauguration of the steel bridge between Katta Maisamma Temple to Indira Park X Roads, the Hyderabad traffic police issued an alert about moderate traffic congestion on August 19 from 9 am to 12 pm.
The following traffic diversions will be in place:
- The traffic coming from the Telugu Thalli flyover towards Indira Park X Roads will not be allowed and will be diverted at Katta Maisamma temple towards Lower Tankbund, Swimming Pool, MRO Office, Indira Park X Road.
- The traffic coming from RTC X Roads towards Katta Maisamma temple will not be allowed and will be diverted at Indira Park X Roads towards Banda Maisamma, Swimming Pool, MRO Office, Lower Tankbund.
All citizens are requested to take note of the above diversions and take alternative routes to reach their destinations and cooperate with the Hyderabad Traffic Police.
Unique steel bridge to decongest RTC X Crossroads
A new flyover/steel bridge ā a first of its kind in the city ā spanning 2.63 km and built at an estimated cost of Rs 450 crores is set to be inaugurated in Hyderabad on Saturday. The flyover, which is part of the Strategic Road Development Program (SRDP) under the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), will address the longstanding traffic congestion at RTC X Roads, Ashok Nagar, and VST junctions.
The steel bridge was built using 12,500 MT of special alloy steel and up to 20,000 cubic metres of concrete. The flyover stands over 81 steel piers of which 46 are pile foundations and the remaining are open excavated foundations. Altogether, 426 steel girders are supporting a four-lane deck slab of 16.6 m wide.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao directed that the bridge be named after Late Nayani Narasimha Reddy, in recognition of the leaderās dedicated services.
Late Nayani Narasimha Reddy was the first home minister of Telangana. He represented the Musheerabad Constituency as an MLA and led the VST workersā union for decades, making his mark in both political and social realms.
Minister inspects arrangements
State Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Dairy Industry Development and Cinematography minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav, MLA Mutha Gopal, GHMC commissioner Ronald Rose along with other officials on Friday inspected the arrangements for the inauguration of the steel bridge from Indira Park to VST Junction.
On the occasion, Srinivas Yadav said that the traffic jams at Indira Park, RTC Crossroads and VST Junction were causing severe problems for motorists and pedestrians. He said the steel bridge was constructed on the initiative of Municipal Minister KT Rama Rao.
āThis bridge can be used by people from Saturday, and it will solve the traffic problems in the area,ā he said.
