Hyderabad: TGSPDCL chairman and managing director Musharraf Faruqui has issued strict instructions to electricity officials to ensure that consumers are informed at least a day in advance about scheduled power maintenance works and supply interruptions.
The move is aimed at minimizing inconvenience to the public.
Advance notice must be mandatory
During a teleconference with Chief Engineers and Superintending Engineers, Faruqui stressed that unscheduled outages due to maintenance are causing public hardship and must be addressed through timely alerts.
Multi-channel communication strategy
To improve outreach, officials have been instructed to notify consumers via press releases in local media, SMS alerts to registered mobile numbers, loudspeaker announcements using autos/bikes in slums and colonies, and WhatsApp groups involving gated communities, RWAs, and apartment associations.

Special focus on Monsoon Preparedness
The CMD emphasized that the ongoing maintenance works are aimed at ensuring a stable and quality power supply during the rainy season, a time when electricity issues are more frequent.
Strict oversight and safety compliance
Chief Engineers and Superintending Engineers have been directed to personally review and monitor maintenance schedules within their jurisdictions. The CMD stressed the need for strict safety protocols and the timely completion of all scheduled works.
Building Transparency and Consumer Trust
These directives are part of a larger initiative to improve transparency, ensure uninterrupted service, and boost consumer confidence in the power utilityās operations. Faruqui also warned that non-compliance with the new communication guidelines would be taken seriously.
