The police took this decision in the wake of complaints raised by motorists regarding traffic snarls on the road adjacent to Hotel ITC Kohenur in Madhapur.
The traffic police personnel carried out an enforcement drive to streamline the traffic on the stretch and asked the roadside eatery owners to identify a suitable location for operating their business. As part of their drive, the traffic police personnel asked Kumari aunty to close her business on the stretch to avoid law and order problems in the locality. The police also suggested Kumari aunty identify a suitable location with the support of the GHMC officials to carry out her business.
Only Kumariās business affected
However, Kumari aunty objected to the traffic police ordering her to relocate her business while leaving the other stalls around her. āFor almost 13 years I have been running an eatery in the locality. Several IT employees and daily wage labourers have their food from my eatery. I follow all the traffic rules and instead ask my customers not to park their vehicles on the side. It is not correct on the part of the police personnel to relocate my business to give exemption for other eateries on the stretch,ā Kumari said.

Courtās order works in favour of roadside eateries
āWe are not able to remove the roadside eateries on the stretch as the owners got a stay from the court. Once we get orders from the court, we will remove them. All the roadside eatery stall owners on the stretch are not paying any rent and doing their business,ā said M Vijayanand, Raidurgam traffic inspector.
Vijayanand further said that the police do not have any intention of disrupting the roadside business. The entire stretch and the road leading to Mindspace junction witness traffic congestion due to the roadside eateries. āWe will not stall the roadside business until and unless the traffic is not disrupted,ā he added.
Meanwhile, upset with undue attention on them, Kumariās husband requested the media not to visit them anymore. He hinted at the mediaās responsibility for the rise in Sai Kumariās popularity which has come to threaten her livelihood.
