Hyderabad: Salar Jung Museum will be celebrating 'International Museum Week' from May 16 to 21.
Visitors will get free entry and various programs will be conducted during this period.
Director of Salar Jung Museum, Dr. A Nagender Reddy said the Union Ministry of Culture has taken up this initiative with an objective to celebrate the International Museum Day on May 18 with the theme "The Power of Museums".
He stressed that museums are not only storehouses of cultural heritage, but they are also educational centers helping to enhance the knowledge of the visitors regarding the history, culture, and traditions of the bygone era.
Dr.Nagendra said that Salarjung Museum has planned to invite differently-abled and orphan students to visit the museum.
As part of the International Museum Week, Salarjung Museum will conduct various problems. An exhibition with 75 objects hitherto displayed from the reserve collection indicating 75 years of Indian independence and a special art exhibition showcasing 75 artists of Hyderabad Art Society will be held. School Children will be given training in Arts, Crafts, and Drawing
A one-day workshop/demonstration on the making of Bidri and lecture will be conducted on May 17. A photography contest of Museum objects in association with Bhagyanagar Photo Art Club will also be held with cash prizes ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 2,000.
Various special lectures, webinars, and cultural programs are also scheduled in the same week.
