Internet from space to become reality soon in India: Director NPSC Hyd
The oration lecture was titled 'Satellites for Society'. Dr. Chauhan said that there is a lot of curiosity about space among people.

Dr. Chauhan was speaking at the memorial oration at the 22nd Annual Science Award Ceremony of the Dr. K.V.Rao Society.
The ceremony was conducted virtually on Zoom on October 1.
The oration lecture was titled 'Satellites for Society'. Dr. Chauhan said that there is a lot of curiosity about space among people. He spoke about space and how and where it began. He spoke about the exciting journey of space, its applications, and how the modern and new wave of technologies is changing space science. "We at ISRO have the capability of identifying from 500 km above the surface of an object of 50x50 cms in size on earth's surface. We can study images of weather patterns taken from the satellite hundreds of kilometers away from the earth's surface," he said.
Dr. K Ratna, Secretary of the society said that what started small in the then combined states of Andhra Pradesh, the Dr. KV Rao Scientific Society, now, has gone national.
Briefing on the annual report, Dr. K. Ratna said the society has embarked on its journey of science promotion and popularization since 2001 and it has been involved in encouraging child scientists, and young scientists to pursue science and research.
This is an event Celebrating excellence in Science, commented Dr. K. Ratna. The annual science awards include Science Quiz, School Talent, SPARK Innovation, and Research Awards. Anil Kumar Kutty, President, and Mr. K. Ramamurthy, Vice President of the society graced the occasion.
"The two ambitious projects of the society- Science Innovation Centre and Science Mobile Labs have reached out to 200 plus schools and 3000 plus students. Many government schools do not have science labs. For them, knowledge of science is through reading books. Mobile science lab helped many students," said Anil Kumar Kutty. Dr.K.V. Rao Society was founded by Rao's family in memory of him. Rao was an eminent scientist of yesteryears who worked with the Geological Survey of India. Dr. K.V Rao Society worked hard for the past 18 years for the cause of popularizing science among school children and enthusing young minds towards pursuing a career in science.
