Hyderabad: Rajiv Gandhi International (RGI) Cricket Stadium, Uppal is all set to host nine matches of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.
The eighteenth edition of IPL will kick off on March 22, 2025.
The RGI stadium, which can house 35,000 spectators with 59 corporate boxes, will host seven league matches and two extras, including the qualifier and eliminator in IPL 2025. The home team, SunRisers Hyderabad, will play its first match of this season against Rajasthan Royals at Uppal on March 23.
Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) President Arshanapalli Jagan Mohan Rao said that the arrangements for the IPL-18 are going on at a fast pace. It includes deep cleaning of seating areas and ensuring a pristine environment for all attendees. The washrooms and corporate boxes were upgraded, enhancing comfort and luxury.
Elaborating, Jagan Mohan said that beautification works were done in the entire stadium to present a refreshed and vibrant look. A brand-new hospitality lounge was also ready to offer an elite experience for our distinguished guests, he said.
All the renovation works would be completed before March 20, he said.
For this IPL, the HCA took particular note of social media posts about dingy restrooms in the stadium. The HCA renovated the restrooms, corporate boxes, canapes, lighting, seating, common area cleaning, and gates. Efforts are being taken to transform Hyderabad into the best venue in the country to host the IPL games and provide a better experience to cricket lovers, the HCA president.
Meanwhile, the HCA Apex Council members held a meeting with the management of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Uppal Stadium to review the IPL arrangements.
Speaking on the occasion, Jagan Mohan Rao instructed the SRH to make arrangements as per the rules of the IPL Governing Council to ensure that fans do not face any problems.
During the meeting, Jagan Mohan Rao addressed the problems that arose in some places due to ACs and washrooms in the corporate boxes last year, which should not be repeated this time. He said that the sale of tickets should be completely transparent, the quality of food sold in the stadium should be good, and it should not be sold at high rates.
Later, Jagan Mohan Rao, along with HCA Vice President Daljit Singh, Joint Secretary Basava Raju, Treasurer CJ Srinivas, and Councillor Sunil Kumar, inspected the work being done in the dressing rooms and corporate boxes.
