IPL 2026 Hyderabad: 2,000 cops, 430 CCTV cameras to secure Uppal Stadium

Hyderabad: With the 19th edition of the TATA IPL 2026 set to kick off at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Uppal, the Commissioner of Police, Malkajgiri, has unveiled a massive security and logistical framework to ensure the safety of players and spectators.
The matches are scheduled to take place from April 5 to May 22.
2,000 police personnel deployed
To manage the approximately 39,000-seat capacity stadium, authorities have deployed a force of nearly 2,000 police personnel. This deployment includes:
Law and Order: 750 personnel.
Traffic Management: 300 personnel.
Specialised Wings: 240 BD Team personnel, 120 SB personnel, 50 Intelligence officers, 25 SOT members and 10 CI Cell officers.
Additional Forces: 10 TSSP/AR platoons, 20 Mounted Police officers and 10 Vajra vehicles.
Fire Safety: 4 fire tenders with a dedicated firefighting squad.
430 CCTV cameras in place
The stadium premises, surrounding areas and parking zones will be under constant digital surveillance.
A total of 430 CCTV cameras, comprising 330 existing and 100 newly installed units, have been set up. A Joint Command and Control Room, managed by an IT Inspector and team, will monitor all footage in real-time to facilitate immediate action.
Stadium access and security protocols
To maintain order during the matches, authorities have implemented strict entry and safety protocols:
Entry Gates: Gate No. 1 is reserved exclusively for players. Spectators must enter through designated gates as per their tickets.
Access Timing: Gates will open three hours before the scheduled start of the match.
Anti-Sabotage Measures: The Bomb Disposal (BD) team will conduct round-the-clock anti-sabotage checks. Sniffer dogs have also been deployed for venue and parking safety.
Communication: A dedicated control room has been set up, and every Sub-Inspector and above will be equipped with VHF sets for quick response.
Mobile Security: Three mobile technicians will be stationed at each gate to inspect spectators’ mobile phones.
Safety provisions for spectators
To ensure a secure environment for all attendees, the police have established:
SHE Teams: Dedicated teams to monitor and control eve-teasing.
Emergency Response: Two contingent teams for emergencies and five ambulances stationed at the venue for immediate medical assistance.
Vendor Regulation: Special teams will supervise vendors to ensure compliance with authorised rates. All personnel engaged by sponsors or vendors have undergone antecedent checks and hold authorised photo-passes.
Public advisory
Authorities have reminded citizens that no cloakroom facilities will be available at the stadium. Spectators are encouraged to use public transportation, such as RTC buses and the Metro Rail, to minimise traffic congestion.
