IPL 2026: Traffic advisory issued for SRH vs LSG match in Hyderabad on April 5; check diversions

Hyderabad: Malkajgiri Commissionerate has issued a comprehensive traffic advisory in connection with the IPL 2026 match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Lucknow Super Giants at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Uppal on April 5.

Authorities have implemented strict diversions and parking regulations to manage the expected surge in spectators and ensure smooth traffic flow.

Expected Congestion Zones

Commuters should brace for moderate to heavy traffic congestion between 12:00 PM and 11:50 PM on match day. The police have identified specific routes that will face the highest pressure:

Nagole to Habsiguda via Uppal Junction

Boduppal to Amberpet via Uppal Junction and Ramanthapur

Officials strongly advise citizens to avoid these stretches during the specified hours and opt for alternative routes. Whenever possible, spectators are encouraged to use public transport, including RTC buses and the Hyderabad Metro, to reach the stadium.

Designated parking facilities

Sufficient parking spaces have been identified for both two-wheelers and four-wheelers. Fans must adhere to the following parking zones:

Uppal X-Roads to Habsiguda: Penguin and TGIALA grounds.

Uppal X-Roads to Ramanthapur: Open ground near DSL (Opposite NSL building) and Modern Bakery.

It should be noted that parking is strictly prohibited on either side of the main roads from Genpact to Uppal Ring Road and from Uppal Ring Road to Vishal Mart, Ramanthapur.

Restrictions for heavy vehicles

To prevent gridlock, heavy vehicles, including lorries, dumpers, water tankers, and private buses, will be diverted away from the stadium vicinity:

From Ghatkesar to Uppal: Diverted at HMDA Uppal Bhagayath (near Mehfil Hotel) towards Nagole and L.B. Nagar.

From L.B. Nagar to Uppal: Diverted at the Nagole Metro Station U-turn towards HMDA Bhagayath, Boduppal, and Cherlapally.

From Tarnaka/Ramanthapur to Uppal: Diverted via Habsiguda/Street No. 8 towards Nacharam and NFC Rotary.

Inter-city Traffic: Heavy vehicles traveling between Hyderabad and Warangal are advised to utilize the Outer Ring Road (ORR) via Ghatkesar or Abdullapurmet to bypass the Uppal junction entirely.

Pass-holder access

Parking inside the stadium is reserved exclusively for VVIP, VIP, and authorized pass holders. These vehicles must enter through Gate 1A. Any vehicle lacking a valid pass will be stopped at the 'Ek Minar' and 'LG Godown' check-posts.
