Irregularities allegations: HYDRAA Commissioner Ranganath asks MLA Anirudh Reddy to report any unauthorized transactions
Hyderabad: HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath has requested Jadcherla MLA Anirudh Reddy to divulge any HYDRAA transactions that were carried out after notices were issued.
The MLA can even bring the issue to the notice of the HYDRAA, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Vigilance and Enforcement, the Police, and the other state government organs, he added.
Ranganath reacted to the allegations made by Anirudh Reddy that the agency was involved in several irregularities. The MLA also accused the agency of conducting "transactions" after serving notices to project managers and building owners during an informal chat with the media at the Assembly.
The HYDRAA Commissioner further said that the agency received two complaints from Anirudh Reddy on August 18, 2024, and December 21, 2024. The first complaint was about water entering the cellar of Green Grace Apartments in the Thautanikunta in Khajaguda, and the other was related to flood water not flowing to the Bhagirathamma Lake after the Thautanikunta was full.
Ranganath recalled that he visited the field twice to take on spot review of the problems. The officials examined the possibilities of the flood from upstream going to Thautanikunta and then to Bhagirathamma Lake.
āHYDRAA removed the encroachments on Bhagirathamma Lake in the last week of December last year. No complaint has been received from MLA Anirudh Reddy regarding the Vamsiram Manhattan Project,ā he said.
āIf any individual has any complaints regarding this matter, they can forward the details on WhatsApp, and we will look into it. In the past, we responded even when MLAs raised a problem on WhatsApp. Complaints from public representatives will be given priority,ā Ranganath said.
The HYDRAA Commissioner said that the agency had received over 9,800 complaints from the public since its inception in July 2024. Many of these have been resolved. āEvery complaint has to be examined transparently, technically, and thoroughly before taking action. These are the reasons why some issues take time to resolve,ā he said.
Ranganath also warned that strict action will be taken against anyone involved in transactions or irregularities using the agencyās name. He recalled that the HYDRAA made a clear announcement to this effect on September 3, 2024.
Ranganath urged the people that any evidence of irregularities be brought to his attention immediately. He advised them to file a complaint with the ACB, Vigilance Enforcement Division, or local police station.
The HYDRAA Commissioner clarified that if the irregularities complaints are genuine, strict action will be taken, including suspension of the agency's employees. He also warned that strict action will be taken against those who directly or indirectly use the name of HYDRAA to collect money or commit irregularities. Cases have already been filed against many people in this process, he added.
