Hyderabad: In a display of solidarity, Information Technology (IT) professionals based in Cyberabad converged at the Wipro circle in Gachibowli to voice their opposition to the arrest of former chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu for his alleged role in the AP Skill Development Corporation scam.

The massive protest not only showcased their support for Naidu but also underscored their discontent with the Andhra Pradesh chief minister Jagan Mohan Reddy’s administration.

The protesters argued that Naidu’s arrest was unjust and posed a threat to democracy. Many of them attributed their improved living standards to Naidu’s leadership and expressed deep sadness over his incarceration. Holding placards that declared ‘I am with CBN’, they collectively demanded his immediate release. While staging a silent protest on the ISB road, young IT professionals also displayed posters that read, ‘He gave us a future; we will bring him back.’

They said that the objective of their protest was to highlight the significant impact Chandrababu Naidu’s leadership had in transforming the region, drawing comparisons between his achievements and the allure of the United States.

IT workers voiced their opinions, shedding light on the sentiments that drove them to participate in the protest. “Chandrababu Naidu’s leadership was instrumental in elevating Hyderabad’s status as an IT hub. We owe much of our success to his vision. His arrest is a cause for concern, and we demand justice,” said Rajesh Kumar, an IT professional.

Many felt that the arrest of Naidu was a threat to democratic methods of law enforcement. Sneha Reddy, a software engineer said, “We believe in the principles of democracy, and today, it feels threatened. We are here to support Naidu, who has played a pivotal role in our lives and careers.”

As the protest gained momentum, a substantial police presence arrived on the scene, seeking to disperse the crowd and ensure no untoward law and order issue occurred. The tense standoff between the IT workers and law enforcement ensued, with the IT professionals keen on making their point.

Rajahmundry jail inmates seek audience with Naidu

Meanwhile, reports have emerged that inmates of the Rajahmundry jail want to communicate with Chandrababu Naidu, aiming to express their grievances directly to the former chief minister, adding an intriguing dimension to the ongoing controversy surrounding Naidu’s arrest.

Many outside the jail walls also sought to show their allegiance to Naidu. In an unconventional display of support, a passenger and a self-proclaimed fan of Chandrababu Naidu protested the former CM’s arrest mid-air while aboard a flight.

It remains to be seen how these public displays of dissent will impact the ongoing developments surrounding the former chief minister’s arrest.
