By Newsmeter Network Published on 16 March 2024 11:23 AM GMTHyderabad: The Drugs Control Administration of Telangana, in conjunction with various law enforcement agencies, dismantled an illicit drug diversion scheme by Dr G Madanmohan, an ENT surgeon operating at Mamatha ENT Hospital in Jagtial.
The operation unearthed a network through which Dr Madanmohan illicitly diverted narcotic and psychotropic drugs from the operation theatre of his hospital to Hyderabad. The operation was traced through one of the consumers, a drug addict in Sainikpuri.

Credible Information: Based on credible intelligence regarding the illegal possession and distribution of narcotic drugs, officials from the DCA, along with TSNAB ((Telangana Anti Narcotics Bureau), Prohibition and Excise Department, Commissionerās Task Force, Hyderabad, and Kushaiguda police, launched a targeted raid.
Residential Raid: Officials raid a residence in Sri Saibaba Officers Colony, Sainikpuri. During the operation, authorities uncovered significant quantities of narcotic drugs, including morphine sulphate injection and various psychotropic drugs.
Discovery of drug stocks: The raid revealed a stockpile of narcotic drugs, including Vermor-15, Rumorf, Vermor-10 and psychotropic drugs like Mezolam, Lori and Librax, among others. These drugs were found in the possession of a drug addict in Sainikpuri.
Courier Supply Chain: Upon further inquiry, it was revealed that Dr Madanmohan supplied the drugs to Hyderabad through parcels via courier/parcel services. The parcels were then collected by a watchman and delivered to the addict in Sainikpuri.
Hospital Connection: Dr Madanmohan, operating at Mamatha ENT Hospital in Jagtial, was identified as the key figure in the illegal drug diversion. The hospitalās pharmacy, named Maanvitha Pharmacy, managed by Oraganti Raju, was instrumental in facilitating the diversion.
Arrest and Seizure: Following intensive investigation and surveillance, officials from the DCA, with the assistance of Jagtial district police, apprehended Dr Madanmohan. Subsequent interrogation revealed his involvement in supplying narcotic drugs to the addict for the past two years.
In response to the operation, VB Kamalasan Reddy, Director General of Telangana, highlighted the severe health risks associated with narcotic drug abuse, emphasising the need for continued vigilance and enforcement efforts to combat such criminal activities.
