Hyderabad: To protect the Constitutional values, democratic rights and communal harmony, Jana Gana Mana Abhiyan along with Telangana for Peace and Unity (TPU), a broad platform of concerned citizens and people’s organisations, will organise a march for the values enshrined in the Constitution and communal harmony.
The march will begin from People’s Plaza, Necklace Road at 4 pm on Sunday and culminate at Dr BR Ambedkar Statue on Tank Bund. The purpose of the campaign is to reach out and connect all such citizens so that they can work together for a better India.
Kiran Kumar Vissa of Bharat Jodo Abhiyan on Saturday said, “In these times when the core values we cherish about India are increasingly being placed in doubt, let us come together and raise a united voice for the Constitution and unity in large numbers. It will also be important to meet and connect with like-minded people and know that we are a large and highly capable section of people who can work together to celebrate and promote our vision of India.”
Kiran Kumar said that in January eminent citizens launched the Jana Gana Mana Abhiyan against the ‘backdrop of rising communal and hate politics, and a growing threat to democracy and the Constitution.’ Citizens have been urged to join the campaign by giving a missed call to 9587040998. Thereafter, they can join social media groups and volunteer for many activities to spread awareness.
After reaching there, the speakers will read out the preamble of the constitution before the gathering. Social activists Prof G Haragopal and Prof Kodandaram were also invited to take part in the event, he added. The nationwide call for Jana Gana Mana Abhiyan was given by Bharat Jodo Abhiyan, a civil service platform.
