Jewel in Hyderabad's crown: Kacheguda railway station bags 1st prize at NECA

By Newsmeter Network Published on 13 Dec 2022 6:28 AM GMTHyderabad: Kacheguda railway station in Hyderabad bagged the first prize at National Energy Conservation Awards (NECA) 2022. The award is likely to be presented by President Droupadi Murmu on December 14 at Vigyan Bhavan in Delhi.
These awards are given for energy conservation methods adopted during the year 2022.
SCR bags seven awards
It has been a proud moment for the South Central Railway (SCR) which bagged seven NECA awards. Guntakal railway station in Anantapur district in Andhra Pradesh bagged the second prize. Besides, Vijayawada, Rajahmundry, and Tenali railway stations in the Vijayawada division of the South Central Railway have been awarded certificates of merit for innovative and effective implementation of energy conservation measures.
In the government buildings category, Railway Hospital in Guntakal and Electric Traction Training Centre in Vijayawada received an award for implementing various energy-saving methods in their day-to-day operations.
SCR has been winning the NECA award consistently for the last 11 years. "The innovative and effective implementation of energy conservation measures has helped the zone in receiving these awards," said Ch. Rakesh, CPRO, South Central Railway.
NECA
National Energy Conservation Awards (NECA) are given away by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), a statutory body under the Ministry of Power, Government of India. It is the 32nd edition of the award. The award was first given away in 1991.
Every year on National Energy Conservation Day, awards are given to various sectors of the economy to recognize their exemplary efforts in energy conservation.
