Job aspirants protest for Groups, DSC exams postponement in Ashok Nagar, Dilsukhnagar

Hyderabad: Tension prevailed at Ashok Nagar X roads here after a large number of unemployed youths staged a protest demanding that the Congress government defer the Group-II and III exams, and the District Selection Committee (DSC), a recruitment exam for teacher vacancies.

A huge rally was taken from Chikkadpally City Central Library to Ashoknagar Square. The agitating unemployed youth staged a sit-in protest with placards, following an announcement made by chief minister A Revanth Reddy that Group-II exams would be conducted as per the schedule. The protest caused traffic jams in the neighbourhood and raised slogans for the immediate postponement of the Groups-II and III and DSC.

Chalo Secretariat to address demands

The youth also decided to organise a Chalo Secretariat programme on July 15, seeking a solution to the demands of the unemployed in the state.

The major demands of the unemployed youth are for the Congress government to fulfil the promises of implementing a 1:100 ratio for Group-1 Mains, filling of two lakh jobs, job calendar, postponement of DSC exams by three months, postponement of Group II and III exams, increase in the number of posts etc.

Donā€™t politicise protest, demand youth

Meanwhile, DSC candidates also staged a protest in Dilsukhnagar upon receiving the information that candidates of groups and other competitive exams staged a sit-in protest in Ashok Nagar. A rally was taken from Venkatadri Theater to Dilsukhnagar Metro Station. At Rajiv Chowk, the DS candidates staged a protest and demanded immediate postponement of DSC and raised slogans for justice.

The DSC candidates appealed to the government not to look at their problem from a political point of view but from the perspective of the future of the state. They warned the government that it would not make sense to politicise their dharnas with just demands by linking them with the BRS and the BJP. Not only in Dilsukhnagar, the unemployed youth also staged a protest at LB Nagar and denounced the indifferent attitude of the Congress government.

Job aspirant attempts suicide

After being upset with the chief ministerā€™s remarks, a youth identified as Nitya Maitra allegedly attempted suicide by consuming sleeping pills. She is a native of Morravani Gudem village of Venkatapur mandal of Mulugu district. She participated in the Ashoknagar dharna and all of a sudden Nitya fell down on the road after swallowing the pills. Alerted unemployed youth rushed Nitya to Gandhi Hospital. After undergoing treatment, she was discharged from the hospital.

Responding to the ongoing demonstrations by the unemployed youth in Hyderabad, BRS working president KT Rama Rao took X and said, ā€œTwo politically unemployed fraudsters of Congress provoked the Telangana youth against the KCR Government by promising them the moon. Thanks to the youth, now those two have cushy jobs. In the last 7 months, neither was a single job notification given nor a single job delivered from the 2 lakh jobs promised in the 1st year of Govt formation. As the Telangana youth agitate vociferously on the streets of Hyderabad, where are these people?ā€
