Hyderabad: Madhura Nagar police have registered a case against Congress leader Naveen Yadav for allegedly distributing fake voter ID cards in the Yousufguda area.
Yadav is one of the three shortlisted candidates of Congress for the Jubilee Hills assembly by-election.
According to G. Rajinikanth Reddy, Electoral Registration Officer and Deputy Commissioner, Circle–19, Yousufguda, GHMC, the issue came to light after a report was published in a local Telugu daily.
The report alleged that Naveen Yadav was involved in distributing fake voter ID cards to residents, in violation of the Election Commission of India (ECI) guidelines.
Officials stated that such acts, if proven, constitute a serious electoral offence that could undermine the integrity of the democratic process.
