Hyderabad: Police have registered a case after fake voter ID cards of top film actresses were posted on social media.
According to Madhura Nagar police, forged voter IDs and invalid EPIC numbers in the names of actresses Rakul Preet Singh, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, and Tamannaah Bhatia were posted on social media.
Election authorities have taken serious note of fake voter ID cards being circulated on social media platforms.
Syed Yahiya Kamal, Assistant Electoral Registration Officer of the Jubilee Hills Assembly Constituency, lodged a complaint at the Madhuranagar Police Station, seeking strict action against those responsible for circulating the fake IDs.
District Election Officer R.V. Karnan said that stern action will be taken against individuals involved in creating or sharing false information and fake documents online.
Based on the complaint, Madhuranagar Police have registered a case under Sections 336(4) and 353(1)(C) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The case is currently under investigation.
