Kanna Rao booked for extortion, kidnapping after techie makes startling allegations

Hyderabad: Police have registered a case against Kanna Rao and others for extortion, and kidnapping of a Hyderabad techie Vijaya Vardhan Rao.

Kanna Rao is the kin of former chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao.

In a complaint lodged with the Banjara Hills police on Wednesday, Vardhan Rao accused Bindhu Madhuri alias Nandini Chowdary, Kalvakuntia Tejashwar Rao alias Kanna Rao, Sham Prasad, Santhosh Nadipeli, and G. Tulasi Ram, of orchestrating a series of criminal acts against him.

According to Vardhan Rao, it began in 2018 when he sought Kanna Rao's assistance to settle a property dispute with his elder paternal uncle. Promises of resolution and support quickly turned sinister as Kanna Rao allegedly ensnared Vardhan Rao into a web of deceit and exploitation.

During his stay with Kanna Rao's family, Vardhan Rao claimed he was coerced into revealing sensitive financial information and pressured to take out a loan from his employer. Despite Vardhan Rao's resistance, the situation escalated, leading to threats and violence.

The gravity of the situation reached its peak on December 31, 2023, when he was allegedly violently robbed at knifepoint by Kanna Rao and his associates. Subsequent events, including forced withdrawals and threats of dire consequences, left Vardhan Rao in a state of perpetual fear and anguish.

Furthermore, Vardhan Rao asserted that when he attempted to seek help, he faced intimidation and manipulation, involving purported police contacts and threats of reprisal.

He alleges that Kanna Rao and Nandini Chowdary subjected him not only to physical assault but also to sexual assault and harassment.

Vardhan Rao claimed that Kanna Rao and Nandini Chowdary boasted about their connections with police officials, specifically mentioning an Assistant Commissioner of Police named Bhujanga Rao and another ACP from Guntur, Sambaiah Katta.

In response to Vardhan Rao's complaint, the Banjara Hills police have registered a case under section 365 (kidnapping), 384 (extortion), 448 (trespass), 506 (criminal intimidation), and Section 34 (common intention). The case is currently under investigation.
